On December 5, the 15th "Fengpai Pipe Cup" "Interviewing Alumni, Enlightening Life" College Student Social Practice Activity Commendation Meeting and Exchange Sharing Meeting was held in Fogang, Qingyuan. Nearly 60 people attended the event, including alumni Lin Mingsong, Chairman and General Manager of Guangzhou Guanghua Plastic Pipe Co., Ltd. and Gaolande (Guangdong) New Materials Technology Co., Ltd., teachers from the Public Relations Office (Alumni Affairs Office) of South China University of Technology, student representatives who participated in the interview activities, student representatives from the School of Materials Science and Engineering, and guests from Guangzhou Guanghua Plastic Pipe Co., Ltd.

Since its launch, the "Interviewing Alumni, Enlightening Life" activity has been committed to building a platform for interaction and communication between students and outstanding alumni. Through face-to-face in-depth interviews, the new generation of students can listen to the study, work and life experiences of their predecessors and learn valuable experience and wisdom from them. This year, the activity ushered in the 15th session. The Alumni Association selected 27 outstanding college student volunteers from the whole school to form 8 interview teams, which went to Henan, Guizhou, Jiangxi, Dongguan, Shenzhen, Zhaoqing, Zhongshan and Zhuhai to interview 26 outstanding alumni.

At the commendation sharing meeting, the highlights of the event were reviewed through a summary video, and eight students who were awarded the title of "Advanced Individuals in Social Practice Activities" in 2024 were commended. Student representatives of the four outstanding teams shared their gains and insights at the meeting, and told the stories and unique experiences they encountered during the interview process.

Presenting a donation thank-you card to alumnus Lin Mingsong
Chen Yan, Executive Deputy Secretary-General of the South China University of Technology Foundation, presented a donation thank-you card to Lin Mingsong, an alumnus who has long supported the event, to express her deep gratitude, and extended warm congratulations to the students who were commended. She emphasized that the event closely revolved around the fundamental task of cultivating morality and educating people. Through the personal experiences and struggle stories of alumni, it set a vivid example for the students and provided rich practical experience to inspire them to keep moving forward on the road of pursuing excellence. She pointed out that social practice not only enriched the students' second classroom, but also strengthened the emotional bond between the alma mater and alumni, and further deepened the inheritance and promotion of the spirit of South China University of Technology. She encouraged the students to uphold the spirit of virtue, self-improvement, pragmatism, innovation, and pursuit of excellence, closely combine personal dreams with the great rejuvenation of the Chinese nation and the rise of their alma mater, bravely pursue dreams, forge ahead, and bravely shoulder the responsibilities of the times.
Alumni Lin Mingsong shares his life experience
Finally, with the theme of "Seeing the way and having light in the heart", alumnus Lin Mingsong shared the seven important growth experiences in his life, telling about his interesting stories in college, the happy moments of family life, and the challenges and gains in business development. He emphasized the importance of peacefully coexisting with uncertainty in a changing world; he also advocated thinking like a farmer and constantly upgrading one's "equipment", that is, improving personal abilities to cope with various challenges.
Alumnus Lin Mingsong's words were full of inspiring power. He encouraged the students present to bravely pursue their dreams, maintain their unquenchable passion and firm action, and bravely meet every challenge in life. His words were not only a sharing of personal experiences, but also an expectation and message to the future generation, pointing out the direction for the students and igniting the light in their hearts.
Before the event started, the teachers and students of the school went to the Highland (Guangdong) Science and Technology Industrial Park and the Feng brand pipe production base for a visit and study. Alumni Lin Mingsong warmly welcomed them and introduced the characteristics of various products in detail in the company's exhibition hall. During the visit, he also led everyone to the production workshop and scientific research laboratory to show the teachers and students the company's innovative development and technical strength.
Lin Mingsong graduated from the Department of Chemical Machinery of South China University of Technology in 1990 with a major in polymer material processing machinery. He was named a chemical machinery engineer in 2003, obtained a master's degree in business administration from Jinan University in 2007, and was named a senior engineer of plastic products in 2020. He worked in Haotian Chemical Group from 1990 to 2009 and served as the general manager of Guangxi Company since 2004. In 2009, the company was restructured and Guangzhou Guanghua Plastic Pipe Co., Ltd. was established, where he served as general manager and chairman. He has been engaged in the plastic pipe industry for 35 years and has served as a director of the Guangdong Building Decoration Materials Industry Association, a director of the South China University of Technology Alumni Association, the 13th Executive Committee of the Guangzhou Panyu District Federation of Industry and Commerce, the 9th Vice President of the Nancun Town Chamber of Commerce, and a member of the Fogang CPPCC. While leading the company to rapid and steady development, he fulfilled his social responsibilities and was enthusiastic about public welfare with a high sense of responsibility. He has long supported and sponsored the "Interviewing Alumni and Enlightening Life" social practice activities for college students.
